Thrivent Aids Red Kettle Campaign

The Salvation Army-Fox Cities hopes lightning strikes twice for its annual Red Kettle Match Day.
During last year's event, a Salvation Army one-day national collection record was shattered when $497,423 was collected in the Fox Cities.
Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Foundation announced Tuesday that it will match up to $125,000 of all collections in the Fox Cities on Dec. 4. People can make donations at the Salvation Army's 50 Fox Cities red kettle sites, by phone and online at www.safoxcities.org.

The Salvation Army Reopens Housing Development

The Railton, The Salvation Army’s affordable downtown housing development, will officially reopen Thursday, Nov. 12, at 10:30 a.m.
The Railton, the former Robert E. Lee hotel, has been owned by the Army for more than 70 years. Initially called the Evangeline Booth Residence, it housed unmarried women working downtown. It was renamed the Railton Residence in 1974 and became transitional housing for tenants who had been homeless or addicted to drugs and were entering their next stage of treatment provided by The Salvation Army.

Daughtry to Headline Red Kettle Kickoff!

Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones and The Salvation Army's national community relations secretary Major George Hood announced that the group Daughtry would be the featured artists for the 2009 Thanksgiving Day Red Kettle Kick-off. The Grammy-nominated band was on hand to talk about their performance, meet Cowboys players and representatives and talk with children from local Salvation Army programs.

Indianapolis Colts Fans Donate More Than 2,100 Coats

Thanks to Indianapolis Colts fans, this morning over 2,100 coats are being cleaned at Tuchman Cleaners for the annual Bob Gregory’s Coats For Kids distribution day this Saturday. On Sunday, fans dropped off new and gently used coats on their way into Lucas Oil Stadium for the Colts vs. Seahawks game. While cash donations have not been totaled, the Indianapolis Salvation Army is certain that fans stepped up in a big way to help purchase additional coats for area kids in need.
