Wauwatosa, WI (May 24th, 2011) Governor Scott Walker toured the area and offered his thanks yesterday to The Salvation Army for reaching out to the victims of the recent tornado that swept through La Crosse. Pounding rain and swirling winds raced through La Crosse late Sunday afternoon, tearing the roofs off buildings, uprooting trees and knocking down garages.
The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) Teams responded to a tornado that touched down on the south side of LaCrosse late Sunday afternoon damaging more than 200 homes and businesses. The Salvation Army deployed its mobile feeding unit providing meals to recovery ad response teams and families affected by Sunday’s tornado. Clean up kits and vouchers for emergency lodging and clothing have also been provided by The Salvation Army to those families impacted by Sunday’s tornado. Four hundred additional clean up kits will arrive in LaCrosse today. For families in need of a clean up kit please call The Salvation Army LaCrosse at 608-782-6126.
