JOY CONY ALEXANDER RECEIVES CERTIFICATION IN VOLUNTEER ADMINISTRATION
Wauwatosa, WI (April 16,2012) Joy Cony Alexander, Salvation Army Divisional Volunteer Administrator for Wisconsin & Upper Michigan has been awarded the credential, “Certified in Volunteer Administration,” by the Council for Certification in VolunteerAdministration. The credential, entitles Cony Alexander to use the initials “CVA” following her name, which is recognized internationally. It is awarded after a rigorous process that includes an extensive self-evaluation and preparation of a performance based portfolio. A panel of professionals who are certified in volunteer administration judges the portfolio. In addition to the portfolio, Cony Alexander sat for a two hour exam testing knowledge, application and analysis of skills related to volunteer resources management.
“Volunteers are the heart of The Salvation Army and the more than 5,000 volunteers are in good hands with Joy. We are all so excited to share this news during National Volunteer Week about Joy,” said Major Roger Ross, Salvation Army Milwaukee County Commander.
Successful CVA candidates must prove they have a clear philosophy of volunteer administration, pledge to work within the professional code of ethics and demonstrate their knowledge-in-use in the core competency areas of organizational management, human resources management, accountability, leadership and advocacy. Cony Alexander joins a select group of over 1100 individuals who have attained this sought-after credential as demonstration of their professional excellence in mobilizing and managing volunteers.
