LEROY BUTLER & SALVATION ARMY TEAM UP THIS SUMMER!
Feed the Kid Meals Program Kicks off June 17

LeRoy Butler Feed The Kids

Wauwatosa, WI (April 26, 2013) Feed the Kids will kick off its summer meal program on Monday, June 17 at Red Arrow Park in downtown Milwaukee. Community and business leaders will volunteer to prepare lunch meals for area children for one hour.

“I use to be one of those kids,” shares LeRoy Butler Green Bay Packer Hall of Famer and Salvation Army 2013 Red Kettle Honorary Chair and ambassador. Butler grew up in the projects of Jacksonville, FL., with his mother and siblings.

“41% of children in Milwaukee are hungry and living in poverty. We served 116,686 meals through our Feed the Kids Summer meals program last year. We expect that number to increase this summer,” said Major Roger Ross, Salvation Army Milwaukee County Commander.

Since 1990 The Salvation Army in Milwaukee County has provided nutritious meals to hungry children who would otherwise go without through its Feed the Kids summer meal program. Now in its 23rd year, Feed the Kids is the only mobile summer meal program of its kind in Milwaukee. The program is designed to meet the needs of children in Milwaukee’s poorest neighborhoods and operates in collaboration with Hunger Task Force, Milwaukee Public School District, West Allis/West Milwaukee School District, Milwaukee Center for Independence, Boys & Girls Clubs, Social Development Commission and Heartlove Place. For more information regarding meal sites and times, call 211 or go to www.impactinc.org.
