Learn how to become a trained Emergency Disaster Services volunteer!        

Springfield MO (March 25, 2013) - Learn how to respond to natural disasters by becoming a trained Emergency Disaster Services volunteer for The Salvation Army. A free EDS training session will take place on Saturday April 6th from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at The Salvation Army's main location - 1707 W. Chestnut Expressway.

     The training session will cover the Introduction to Emergency Disaster Services course, which is designed for those who have limited or no emergency disaster service work. Participants will receive an overview of The Salvation Army's role within disaster work and learn how to prepare and equip themselves for a disaster deployment.

    "Trained volunteers play a vital role in helping The Salvation Army respond to natural disasters and other crisis situations," Major Norman Grainger, Ozark Area Coordinator said. "During a disaster or crisis The Salvation Army & its trained EDS volunteers are often among the first on scene helping serve victims and first responders."
