Waukesha Salvation Army

445 Madison Street (downtown)

Waukesha, WI 53188

262-547-7367

In spite of major construction on adjacent and nearby streets and intersections, The Salvation Army in Waukesha IS ACCESSIBLE to pedestrians, to those in cars, and by mass transit (Waukesha Bus Route #7) in downtown Waukesha. Be brave and be careful -- it'll be smooth and beautiful when crews have it all done!

A HAPPY AND BLESSED 4th OF JULY HOLIDAY!!

FourthOfJuly

As our nation begins the 4th of July Holiday weekend for 2016, The Salvation Army of Waukesha expresses its deepest gratitude to Almighty God for the beauty, majesty, founding principles, higher calling, global strength and blessed accomplishments of our unique country, The United States of America. And, we pray over our nation's many needs within that allow us-- who staff, volunteer for and donate to the Salvation Army-- to have purpose in our actions in daily serving His Holy Name. We minister to and provide for His beloved children in our efforts, perople who at this point in their lives, are most in need among us. Let each of us thoughtfully ponder and earnestly pray over the blessed and profound GIFT OF FREEDOM on this 2016 4th of July weekend.

DAILY VOLUNTEERS HELPING FEED HUNGRY KIDS

FeedTheKids

Every weekday during the summer, loyal volunteers (pictured today L-to-R are Mike, Chris and Kathy) personally help fight hunger by making several hundred sandwiches for our FEED THE KIDS program. Between 12:00am and 12:30pm M-F in Waukesha's Sentinel Park hundreds of children show up for a free sack lunch. Note that we're off on the 4th of July. You might be surprised how many children-in-need are home during the summer without a parent, and without anything in the cupboards or the fridge to eat. Donations or volunteer crews always appreciated. Thank you!

PEOPLE ARE HUNGRY EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK

FoodPantry2

If we're not hungry, we should be very, very thankful. Donated food arrives at the doorstep of our modern, efficient, clean Food Pantry in many different ways. No matter how it arrives, it is received, checked for expiration date and packaging condition, then sorted and organized by date and by type of food. Every ounce is deeply appreciated. Most needed and most scarce?-- non-perishable canned protein/meats: canned tuna, canned chicken, canned ham, peanut butter. Least needed?-- Mac and cheese. Thank you, very much!

NOT THE BROTHERS GRIMM

ThreeBrothers

"Richard, Ronald and Robert" . . . and another "R" brother at home, named "Rudolph." They've lived together for years and have enjoyed the Waukesha Salvation Army's free Community Meal program (on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday evenings) going on twenty years.Their dad died 60-years ago when he was just 47, their mother 10-years ago at age 82. The three brothers dote over a sister who is married. The guys have worked as cooks (20-yrs), as limousine drivers (5-yrs), on the railroad (18-yrs), on an asphalt crew, doing cleaning, and much more. Why do they come, week after week? "It's not just the food, it's also the visiting with people, the talking and the fellowship," says Robert, the youngest, who just got through major surgery (photo, right). Ronald says, "There's no fighting. We all get along. Of course, it helps that we all like the same TV programs." ALL THE COMMUNITY IS WELCOME at the Waukesha Salvation Army's 3-times/wk free Community Meal!

LegacyOfLove

Nearly one hundred people attended this week's annual LEGACY OF LOVE luncheon to honor long-term continuous donors to The Salvation Army of Waukesha. Donors were recognized for 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 years of continuous giving. Special mention of our thirty-five year donor, Albert Pipke of Waukesha.

Attendees were briefed on successes of the past year, introduced to key staff members, and the group saw a new video that explains and promotes the Waukesha Salvation Army's work. Thank you, ALL, for your ongoing, loyal support of our mission -- "Doing The Most Good" ... in Waukesha since 1894!

SALVATION ARMY'S BIG NATIONAL DAY -- FRIDAY

FREE DONUTS THIS FRIDAY, June 3rd, AT WOODMAN'S WAUKESHA, near Highways 59 & 164, starting at 9:30ish until 1,000 are gone! Sponsored by Entennman's nationwide (thank you!), this is an annual fundraiser in celebration of The Salvation Army's  . . . NATIONAL DONUT DAY.

Donut

This yearly observance hearkens back to WWI in the battlefield trenches of France when extremely brave Salvation Army women crawled under active shell fire to deliver hot coffee and donuts they'd made from scratch in order to boost the morale of war weary, hungry soldiers fighting the German Army at the front lines.

Please come honor those dedicated women, the heroic soldiers of today and the past, and, if you wish, show your financial support for the Salvation Army's charitable work in Waukesha County (since 1894) by dropping a little something in the Red Kettle that we'll have on hand (free will offering). THANK YOU!
