Family and Children's Services
Stepping Stones Child Development Center is a non-profit, licensed center providing quality daycare for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years of age. Stepping Stones is staffed with certified teachers who encourage each child. Stepping Stones is located at 3612 Cuming Street on the first floor. The facility encompasses 6,000 square feet. Stepping Stones offers children the opportunity to learn and grow in a decorated, spacious and secure enivornment. They are nationally accredited with COA. They have a full-sized gymnasium for large motor play and two outdoor playgrounds.
CARES (Comprehensive Adolescent Residential Education Services) offers shelter and life skills guidance for female adolescents, including those who are pregnant and parenting. A sixteen-bed residential program utilizes long-term residential care, specialized care for pregnant and parenting teens, and preparation for transition to independent living.
Early Head Start - A Home based/center-based program for low income families who are expecting or have a child 0-3 years of age including children with disabilities. Services include weekly home visits for 1 1/2 hours or center-based services provided through two partnering sites. Services are offered throughout the year.
REAL LIFE CONNECTIONS - Provides therapeutic and educational groups within the Douglas County Correctional Center. The program provides nonjudgmental support and treatment for individuals.
