| THE KROC GIFT Upon the passing of Joan Kroc, wife of Ray Kroc, founder of the McDonald's Corporation, a financial gift of $1.9 billion was awarded nationally to The Salvation Army. With this gift came special instructions from Mrs. Kroc to The Salvation Army: construct state-of-the-art community centers to deal with health, education, community needs and faith within urban and depressed communities. The goal is to allow disadvantaged children the opportunities to live enriched lives through the programs and activities of the Kroc Centers. |
